ITINERARY

DAY 1: SAN JOSÉ
Arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport and transfer to hotel.

DAY 2: TORTUGUERO
Transfer for Tortuguero commonly known as the “Little Amazon”.
Arrival early afternoon and visit the village of Tortuguero
Optional hike along the hotel’s trails to observe the wildlife

DAY 3: TORTUGUERO
Exporation of the canals of Tortuguero National Park, see caimans, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, sloths, toucans, iguanas, basilisks and birds of every colour…
Afternoons are free, with the choice of relaxing at the hotel pool, strolling along the hotel trails or taking part in one of the many activities on offer.
Lunch and dinner at the lodge (included)

DAY 4: SARAPIQUI
Breakfast and departure from Tortuguero by boat. Arrival at the port of La Pavona/Cabo Blanco and bus transfer to Guápiles for lunch (included)
After lunch, delivery of your rental car and quick drive to Sarapiqui
Check-in at the lodge of the La Tirimbina Reserve, which boasts one of the longest suspension bridges in the country.
In the afternoon you will enjoy the Cocoa Tour at La Tirimbina is a fun and interactive experience for families, where kids can touch, taste, and learn about the chocolate-making process from bean to bar

DAY 5: LA FORTUNA
Breakfast at the hotel and self-drive to La Fortuna, a village at the foot of the Arenal Volcano one of the must-visit destinations in Central America.
Arrival at the hotel and check-in.
Free afternoon of your choice: visit to the La Fortuna waterfall, zip lines, suspension bridges, visit to an organic garden, among others

DAY 6: SLOTH TOUR, ARENAL VOLCANO & HOT SPRING
At dawn, you will begin a tour of about 2 hours along various trails in the reserve in search of sloths
Visit Arenal Volcan National Park and access the famous lava flow of 1992.
End the day at the Ecotermales hot springs with dinner included.

DAY 7: SUSPENSION BRIDGES – RIO CELESTE
Breakfast at the hotel
Self-guided tour of Mistico hanging bridges, you will spend approximately 2.5 hours walking through a primary rainforest, crossing about 16 hanging bridges.
Drive towards the Tenorio Volcano region, famous for its celestial blue river that flows into a stunning waterfall
Rest of the day to relax or to enjoy some more local activities.

DAY 8: TENORIO VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK & RIO CELESTE
Breakfast at the hotel
Visit Tenorio National Park. You could take the path that leads to the Rio Celeste waterfall. or go and see the famous “Dyer”, a place where the two rivers mix to form the perfect alchemy which gives the Rio Celeste this very special colour.
Road to Samara in the early afternoon
Arrival at the hotel and check-in.
Samara beach, 5 kilometres long, is one of a few with a coral barrier and white sand and is safe for swimming or relaxing under the palm trees.

DAY 9 & 10: SAMARA

DAYS 9 to 11: MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK
Manuel Antonio Park occupies an area of 683 hectares. It is surrounded by an exuberant, very humid tropical forest. Its trails are visited by white-faced monkeys, sloths, badgers, raccoons, iguanas and many species of birds; there is also the squirrel monkey, a breed endemic to Manuel Antonio, which is found nowhere else in the world. Entrance fee not included.
Recommended activities: snorkelling tours, surf lessons, rafting on the Savegre River, tour to the Isla Damas mangrove

DAY 12: ALAJUELA
Morning at leisure to enjoy the Pacific Ocean.
